Internet Explorer, Firefox ACCESSING FLV VIDEOS Since third party apps could come with adware, is there an alternative way of saving videos from popular sites like YouTube, Google video and the likes? Go to you preferred video site and play a video. Make sure that you play it from beginning to end.

After it has been played, close the browser. Now go to the following address –

‘C:\Documents and Settings\*\Local Settings\Application Data\ Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*.default\Cache’

, where ‘*’ is the user name and ‘*.default’ can be any random number or alphabet followed by ‘.default’. For IE go to

‘C:\Documents and Settings\*\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files’.

Right click on a blank space and select ‘View | Details’ and arrange the icons by their size. Now search for the largest files and also check the dates on which they were created. Copy and paste the files to another folder and rename them with the ‘.flv’ extension. You can now play them file using an appropriate player. Note: You will need to show hidden files and folders.

To do this double click on ‘My Computer’, go to ‘Tools | Folder Options | View’ and select ‘Show hidden files and folders’. You will also need to uncheck ‘Clear private data’ in Firefox by clicking ‘Tools | Options | Privacy’ and deselect ‘Always clear my private data when I close Firefox
