Tech Word of the Day “power-disking“

This time I have a new and a must have word in your techie vocabulary.

Today’s word is “Power-Disking

Power-Disking

Means: Watching several episodes of a TV show in a row, usually from a DVD box set. This can be done over several evenings, or a marathon weekend.

Uses: I missed the first three seasons of Mad Men, so I spent the past two weekends powerdisking all the episodes in order to be up to date for the premiere of season four later this month.

Never heard this term before, but I have definitely done it. Several years ago, during season 2 of 24, my wife and I bought season 1 and watched all 24 episodes over three days. Last year, we did the same thing with Sons of Anarchy season 1. When you have a good series, you really want to get caught up. However, be prepared to spend a day or two just sitting–because once you watch one episode, you keep saying, lets just do one more.

I’ve never heard the term power-disking, but i love to do this. One of the reasons is not having any annoying commercials and the other is being able to watch back to back and not have to wait each week for a new episode. What is really nice is watching multiple seasons back to back. It can be hard to wait to watch a show, but it is worth it in the end.
