Fun Facts about “The Social Network” Movie.

The Social Network is a 2010 drama film about the founding of the Internet social networking website Facebook. Released on 24 September 2010 (New York Film Festival) is first movie based on social media and had some chronological errors & fun facts like-

Some Fun facts:-

1. Jesse Eisenberg’s cousin actually works for Facebook, apparently near the real Mark Zuckerberg.
2. Not a single Facebook employee, including the founders, was involved with this movie.
3. A year prior to the release of this film, Jesse Eisenberg’s character in Zombieland (2009) stated the best thing he liked about Z-Land was there were no Facebook status updates.
4. Even though Zuckerberg is against the film, he still allows the movie to have a Facebook fan page.
5. Because director David Fincher was unable to find any suitable identical twin actors to play real-life identical twins Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss, two unrelated actors were hired to play each brother – Armie Hammer as Cameron and Josh Pence as Tyler. Fincher thought that Hammer looked the most like the real brothers, so for some scenes, the visual effects team photographed Hammer speaking Tyler’s lines and created a computer-generated model of his face to paste over Pence’s. Traditional split-screen work, with Hammer’s separate performances as each brother stitched together in the same frame, was also used.
6. Reported to be R-rated during production, but end up editing down to PG-13 to make it accessible for a wider audience.
7. The first PG-13 rated film to feature two separate, unrepeated instances of the word “fuck” being used. Prior to The Social Network’s release, PG-13 films were limited to one non-sexual based use of the word. The only other PG-13 film that contained two f-bombs was 16 Blocks (2006), but that was due to a conversation being recorded and replayed later in the film, not two unique instances of the word (in successive scenes, no less).
8. The opening breakup scene with Jesse Eisenberg and Rooney Mara ran eight script pages and took 99 takes.
9. Mark Zuckerberg is red-green colorblind, this is why Facebook is blue. Okay, so that’s not about the movie, but I still find it interesting.

Here are some more Goofs:-

1. Anachronisms: The events of the film take place in 2003 and 2004. However, most of the computers in the film are running Windows XP Service Pack 3, which was not released until 2008.
2. Anachronisms: The deejay at the 2003 party is mixing with a music software called Serato Scratch Live, which did not get released until May of 2004.
3. Anachronisms: During the Valentine’s Day a cappella performance the girl checking her email remarks that she hopes the links she’s being sent come from ‘Cats That Look Like Hitler’ the scene takes place in early 2004, while the website didn’t launch until 2006.
4. Anachronisms: In the scene after the opening breakup scene, Mark rushes back to his dorm at Harvard, tapping his wallet against the keyless entry system to his dorm. At the time the movie takes place, all Harvard dorms required the ID card to be swiped.
5. Factual errors: When Mark types email addresses in to tell people about facemash, he writes to several people @harvard.edu. At the time the movie takes place, undergraduate email addresses were all of the form username@fas.harvard.edu. Furthermore, the network brought down by facemash would have been referred to as the FAS network. (FAS stands for Faculty of Arts and Sciences; the eponymous network covered all buildings within the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.)
6. Anachronisms: The song being played in the nightclub is “The Sound Of Violence,” performed by Dennis de Laat. This song did not exist until the year 2009.
