Container cargo tracking occurs when someone observes or watches the shipping of a cargo vessel (that which holds the possessions or goods) as it leaves from the place of origin to the cargo’s destination. Cargo containers are large boxes (often metal) that are placed in massive shipping vessels and shipped to an intended place. “Container cargo tracking,” refers to the monitoring of shipping containers by way of the Apple iPhone.

Apple iPhones contain global positioning system (GPS) capability, which means they can send signals to and receive signals from satellites that are placed all across the globe. These signals allow you to see where any given object is at any given time on earth. All that is needed for the IPhone GPS capability to function is a GPS mobile phone application. Mobile phone applications often comes as downloads. With your IPhone, you can actually download a mobile phone application from the Internet directly onto your IPhone! The GPS application serves as a window or “server” by which the GPS function operates.

TrackThat provides what are called “push updates,” where you receive a notification via your cell phone every time a package or shipment of yours moves from one county, city, or state to another. To access the TrackThis container tracker, you must create a TrackThis account and download the TrackThis mobile phone application.

How does TrackThis work? First, go to the TrackThis website (http://www.usetrackthis.com/) on your IPhone and place your tracking code in the section labeled “start tracking.” You can choose a nickname for your package or not. There are other features on the page, such as deciding whether or not you will track your packages on facebook and twitter as well.

The advantages of TrackThis are that 1) you can track all of your packages in the same place because of the various carriers the mobile phone application can track, and 2) you can track your packages by way of social media, such as Facebook and Twitter.

GTrax is another container cargo tracking mobile phone application put out by MIS Development and Refresh Media that tracks cargo containers in sea vessels to aid mariners in ocean shipping. GTrax uses certain antennas to find a commercial vessel in the water and send a signal back to your iPhone as to the location of the cargo container and vessel carrier. Once the antennas find the commercial vessel within the range, the iPhone will show the vessel location via Google maps.

Both TrackThis and gTrax are examples of container cargo trackers that have been turned into mobile phone applications for your Apple iPhone. Once upon a time, with only a couple of platforms and a few models on offer, choosing a smartphone was easy. Now, there are countless models and several platforms to choose from, with the promise of newer, better, shinier versions permanently on the horizon.

You might know what features you’re after, but how do you know which operating system (OS) runs better? We compare each aspect of the top four in this article – Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android, Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 and Nokia’s Symbian 3 - read on to find out which OS wins.

Usability

iOS is the easiest mobile operating system; it’s intuitive and has been designed logically, beautifully and simply.

While Android is generally still quite easy to operate, because it’s used by a range of manufacturers users won’t find that they will easily switch from one to another.

Symbian ^3 is user friendly and, unlike Android, you don’t have to worry about mastering different interface layouts on different devices.

Windows Phone 7 looks amazing, but falls down on the need to press and hold certain items to display additional options and to unlock the screen before receiving a call, as well as the peculiar search button behaviour. A lack of multitasking and copy-paste functions. That said, the keyboard is up there with Google’s Gingerbread and iOS.

Performance

iOS 4.0’s UI, when used with the iPhone 4, is smooth throughout with no noticeable lag, even when switching between multiple applications.

While it does suffer occasional stutters,Android runs fairly well with capable hardware, although it tends to be slow on lesserhandsets. With the likes of the Honeycomb-powered LG Optimus 3D Pad due for imminent release, the android tabletcould soon overtake iOS’s lead in the tablet market.

A fairly light OS,Symbian can be run by weaker hardware, thus removing the need to unnecessarily ramp up the hardware (using more power in the process). As a result, these phoneshave the longest battery life.

Well optimized and always complemented by quality hardware,Windows Phone 7 performance is unbeatable. Unfortunately though, thisefficiency is only limited to the default applications: third-party applications don’t live up to Microsoft’s high standards.

Aesthetics

As the oldest of the four platforms here,iOShas still hardly undergone any major UI makeover – it still looks great, has lovely menu transitions and possesses a real timelessness.

Having changed considerably with each update, Android has lost some of its simplicity and perhaps picked up some unnecessary elements, such as the 3D image gallery and live wallpapers. It still looks good though.

Symbian ^3 lags behind in the modernity stakes. It doesn’t look terrible but doesn’t match the other brands. The applications are scattered across the menu screen and the keyboard could be better.

Windows Phone 7 – the youngest here – sports a beautiful, contemporary, smooth and very original user interface.

Features

iOSusers can now install applications, multitasking, copy-paste and folders,leaving little room for complaint. However, it lacksBluetooth file transfer, file manager, mass storage, homescreen widgets and FM radio capabilities and more besides.

Features are Android’s strongpoint.Google’slatest release has almost every feature going, whether it’s multitasking, widgets, tethering, Wi-Fi hotspot or Adobe Flash support, Android does it all.

Symbian ^3 has almost every feature that you get on Android, along with some that you don’t, such as FM radio and USB On-the-Go connectivity, plusthree handy home-screen widgets andmulti-tasking and copy-paste as standard.

Although Windows Phone 7 will eventually incorporate more features through updates and already has some good ones such as the home-screen ‘Hub’ tiles, Xbox Live support, Zune Pass and Office integration, Microsoft’s offer’s just not good enough to compete against rivals.

Applications

iOShas over 300,000 generally high quality applications available, with some of them having truly revolutionized the way we use our smartphones. If you’re mad about apps, then iOS isthe platform to use.

With over 25,000 apps available, Google is catching up with iOS,but with most already available on iOS and the remaining ones being Google’s own anyway, there’s nothing of particular note here.

There’s a vast selection of apps available forSymbian but they have, until the recent arrival of Nokia’s Ovi Store, been difficult to access. Things are looking better now but there’s nothing to shout about.

Windows Phone 7 has the least impressive and most expensive library of applications available and, although the platform is still relatively new, there’s no excuse for the sheer lack of apps for eager new customers.

Conclusion

Offering the best combination of features, performance and applications and able to run even onrelatively inexpensive handsets,Android wins. Android has crept slightly ahead of iOS, which has until now been hailed as king of the smartphones – so if you can’t afford an iPhone 4, get an Android.

9 Tablets To Launch in 2011

The new year is just around the corner, and major tech companies have promised us some innovative new Tablets PC to arrive in coming months.

So here are some of the most anticipated mobile phones of 2011–check them out.

1.Sprint 4G Tablet

Sprint’s president of business markets, Paget Alves, recently told Forbes that the carrier would be bringing a 4G tablet to its network in 2011. The company made similar statements last May. It’s unclear who would make the tablet and whether it would be an exclusive deal. Regardless, Sprint is investing heavily in its so-called 4G WiMax network and will likely be the first carrier out of the gate with a 4G tablet. SlashGear speculates that Sprint’s 4G tablet will end up being the BlackBerry PlayBook.

2.Hewlett-Packard WebOS Tablet

HP has confirmed that the device is coming, but little is known about HP’s WebOS tablet. It may or may not be called the PalmPad and may or may not run WebOS 2.0. But using Palm’s critically acclaimed smartphone OS in a tablet could be a big winner for HP, and may pose a credible challenge to the iPad. In addition to powering tablets, WebOS is expected to run new smartphones, netbooks, and even wireless printers in 2011.

3.BlackBerry PlayBook

4.Android Tablets: Motorola, LG, and HTC

Google’s Andy Rubin was showing Motorola’s prototype in San Francisco recently. Meanwhile, LG’s and HTC’s tablets are largely rumors at this point. Motorola’s version will most likely be running Android OS 3.0 (Honeycomb). LG is working on a Honeycomb tablet as well, according to Android Guys. HTC’s tablet is slated for launch in early 2011 with Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread), according to SlashGear.

Expected launch: 2011. Expected pricing: Unknown. Expected specs: 7-inch to 10-inch screen, Nvidia Tegra 2 processors, Android OS 2.2, 2.3, or 3.0.

5. iPad 2

About: Apple hasn’t yet confirmed the second-generation iPad, but the company has a habit of updating its other prominent iOS devices–the iPhone and iPod Touch–every year. There’s no reason to expect its handling of the iPad to be any different.

Expected launch: Early 2011 (rumor). Expected specs: Front- and rear-facing cameras, thinner, slimmer, faster, lighter, enhanced display. Expected pricing: Unknown.

6. Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Tablet-Netbook Hybrid

This tablet-laptop hybrid was supposed to debut in 2010, but its launch date has been pushed back to some time during the first six months of 2011. It’s another candidate for a CES status update in January.

Expected launch: First half of 2011. Expected pricing: $1000. Expected specs: 10.1-inch detachable LED-backlit touchscreen, 1366-by-768-pixel resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (tablet mode), 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo SU1400 processor (laptop mode), 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity.

7. 10-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab

Rumors about a larger version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab device have been circulating since the fall, and some company executives have been quoted saying that such a model is coming. But Samsung has not yet officially announced a 10-inch version of the Galaxy Tab, so technically the product remains a rumor. It’s also unclear whether the larger version would have similar specs to the 7-inch Galaxy Tab.

Expected launch: First half of 2011 (rumor). Expected pricing: Unknown. Expected specs: 10-inch touchscreen, Android OS.

8. Windows Tablets

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is expected to announce several Windows tablets during CES to compete with Apple’s iPad. It’s hard to know how people will react to this second foray into iPad-style one-panel tablets since Ballmer introduced the lackluster Hewlett-Packard tablet at CES 2010. Some people are anticipating new Windows tablets, because they love Windows. Others are looking forward to Windows tablets, because they like to laugh at Microsoft. Which camp do you fall into?

9. Atom-Based Tablets

Intel CEO Paul Otellini recently said that 35 Intel Atom-based tablets are lined up to hit store shelves in 2011. Manufacturing partners include Asus, Cisco, Dell, Fujitsu, Lenovo, and Toshiba tablets running Android and Windows operating systems. Some of the tablets will be on display in January at the annual CES, Otellini said. If 2010 was the Year of the Tablet, 2011 must be the Year of More Tablets.

Having the best technology is like having a style statement for each and every human being and it is something which everyone craves for. Style is something which is represented not only by means of clothes but also by technology, which our celebrities do it in the best possible way, be it Herman Hollerith, the owner of IBM or be it the owner of Dell, Michael Dell, they all have an unique way of dressing which has a different style statement.
